The Law of Success Review

In 1928 Napoleon Hill stunned America when he published his bestseller The Law Of Success. Twenty years of research had gone into the writing, and the results of his study were so exhaustive that the final manuscript was published in eight separate volumes.

Five hundred of the most famous self-made multimillionaires had invited Napoleon Hill into their homes and business to study their habits, analyze their methods, and learn their secrets of success. After testing and proving his theories, Hill refined them into seventeen Principles of Success that offered the collective wisdom of America's greatest achievers who had used these principles themselves to build their fortunes.

Self Creation Poem

" Do not question whether the principles of auto suggestion will work. Do not doubt, but believe. The power to think as you wish to think is the only power over which you have absolute control."
Napoleon Hill

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
for my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced or cried aloud.
Under the bludgeoning of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul

Imagination

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create."
Albert Einstein

Imagination is the workshop of the mind, here old ideas and facts may be reorganized into new combinations, and put to new uses.

The dictionary defines imagination as : "The act of constructive intellect in grouping the materials of knowledge or thought into new, original and rational systems; the constructive or creative faculty; embracing poetic, artistic, philosophic, scientific and ethical imagination.

"The picturing power of the mind; the formation of mental images, pictures, or mental representation of objects or ideas, particularly of objects of sense perception and of mathematical reasoning! also the reproduction and combination, usually with more or less irrational or abnormal modification, of the images or ideas of memory or recalled facts of experience."Napoleon Hill

Work on your imagination as much as possible. Meditating for about 10 minutes daily can help cultivate your imagination and your creative mind. Imagination is the first step in creating a goal, so therefore it is a very important step to your success. Imagine what you want, and then create the desire for it.

Believe in your Success

"I had to succeed, because I finally ran out of things that wouldn't work."
Thomas Edison

Many people fail time and time again, but why do people give up?
If people keep working on their goals, the more times they fail, the closer they are to success.

No one is ready for success,
Unless they believe that they can achieve it!

The 6 Steps to Riches

"Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't. "
Eleanor Roosevelt

Take out a piece of paper, and write this down right away. This is one of the most important steps in reaching success. Work on your own and elvove it as you work through your own way to success.

Step 1~ Write down the exact amount of money you wish to earn

Step 2~ What will you give back in return for the money you have gained

Step 3~ Exact date in which you will achieve this money or goal

Step 4~ Exact Plan on how you will achieve this money

Step 5~ Combine steps 1-4 in summary

Step 6~ Repeat your summary twice daily, once when you wake up and once when you go to bed.

The steps to success are in reach, grab them and give it your all.

"Whatever the mind can concieve it can achieve"
Napoleon Hill

The Golden Rule

"The elevator to success is out of order. You'll have to use the stairs...
One Step At A Time"
Joe Girard

Treat people the way you would want them to treat you!

I consider myself to have a pretty good understanding of customer service. When I first started work I realized how many people never seemed to be happy and almost always rude. One of the things I started trying was to see if I could make them happy. If I gave a smile, would I receive one back? Not all of the time, but I saw more smiles each time I did.
So then I would try and take it a step further, when I became engaged with a customer who seemed to be angry, I would try my best to conversate and be as polite as I could. I realized, I could turn someones day around just by being polite and caring, no matter how angry the person first appeared to be.

So my lesson is that, if you treat others how you want to be treated from the start, chances are you will get that same treatment back. This is also key to salesmanship.

Public Speaking

"I do not think there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature."
John D. Rockefeller

If the business in which you endeavor requires you to become a better public speaker I encourage you to adopt this statement and read it out loud daily. Not only can this be used for public speaking, the frame work can be used to gain any goal.

I am going to become a powerful public speaker because this will enable me to render the world useful service that is needed-and because it will yield me a financial return that will provide me with the necessary material things of life.

I will concentrate my mind on this desire for ten minutes daily, just ebfore retiring at night and just after arising in the morning, for the purpose of determining just how I shall proceed to transform it into a reality.

I know I can become a powerful and magnetic speaker, therefore I will permit nothing to interfere with my doing so.

Napoleon Hill Story.- Self Confidence

" One day a homeless man presented himself at my office and asked for an interview. As I looked up from my work and greeted him, he said, "I have come here to see the man who wrote this little book," and he removed from his pocket a copy of a book entitled Self-Confidence, Which I had written many years previously. :It must have been the hand of fate," he continued, "that slipped this book into my pocket yesterday afternoon, because I was about ready to go out there and punch a hole in Lake Michigan. I had about come to the conclusion that everything and everybody, including god, had it in for me, until I read this book and it gave me a new viewpoint and brought me the courage and hope that sustained through the night.I made up my mind that if I could see the man who wrote this book he could help me get on my feet gain. Now I am here and I would like to know what you can do for a man like me."
While he was speaking I had been studying him from head to foot and I am frank to admit that down deep in my heart I did not believe there was anything I could do for him, but I did not wish to tell him so. The glassy stare in his eyes, the lines of discouragement in his face, the posture of his body, the tend days' growth of beard on his face, the nervous manner about this man all conveyed to me the impression he was hopeless, but I did not have the heart to tell him.
So I asked him to sit down and tell me his whole story. I asked him to perfectly frank and tell me, as nearly as possible, just what had brought him down to the ragged edge of life. I promised him that after I heard his entire story I would then tell him whether or not I could be of service to him. He related his story, in lengthy detail, the sum and substance of which was this: He had invested in entire fortune in a small manufacturing business. When the world war began in 1914, it was impossible for him to get the raw materials necessary for the operation of his factory, and he therefore failed. The loss of his money broke his heart and so disturbed his mind that he left his wife and children and went to live on the streets. He had actually brooded over his loss until he reached the point at which he was contemplating suicide.
After he had finished his story, I said to him: " I have listened to you with a great deal of interest, and I wish that there was something I could do to help you. But there is absolutely nothing.
He became as pale as he will be when he is laid way in a coffin. He settled back in his chair and dropped his chin on his chest as much as to say, "that settles it." I waited for a few seconds, then said:
"While there is nothing I can do for you, there is a man in this building to whom I will introduce you, if you wish, who can help you regain your lost fortune and put you back on your feed again."These words had barely fallen from my lips when he jumped up, grabbed me by the hands, and said, "For God's sake lead me to this man."
It was encouraging to note that he has asked this "for god's sake." This indicated that there was still a spark of hope within him, so I took him by the arm and led him out into the laboratory where my psychological tests in character analysis were conducted, and stood with him in front of what looked to be a curtain over a door. I pulled the curtain aside and uncovered a tall mirror in which he saw himself from head to foot. Pointing my finger at the glass, I said:
"There stands the man to whom I promised to introduce you. He is the only man in this world who can put you back on your feet again. And unless you sit down and become acquainted with that man, as you never became acquainted with him before, you might just as well go on over and 'punch a hole' in Lake Michigan, because you will be of no value to yourself or to the world until you know this man better."
He stepped over to the glass, rubbed his hands over his bearded face, studied himself from head to foot for a few moments, then stepped back, dropped his head, and began to weep. I knew that the lesson had been driven home, so I led him back to the elevator and sent him on his way. I never expected to see him again, and I doubted that the lesson would be sufficient to help him regain his place in the world, because he seemed too far gone for redemption. He seemed to be not only down, but almost out.
A few days later I met this man on the street. His transformation had been so complete that I hardly recognized him. He was walking briskly, with his head tilted back. That old, shifting , nervous posture of his body was gone. He was dressed in new clothes from head to foot. He looked prosperous and he felt prosperous. He stopped me and related what had happened to bring about his rapid transformation from a state of abject failure to one of hope and promise.
"I was just on my way to your office, " he explained, "to bring you the good news. I went out the very day that I was in your office, a down and out tramp, and despite my appearance I sold myself at a salary of $3,000 a year. Think of it, man $3,000 a year! And my employer advanced me money enough to buy some new clothes, as you can see for yourself. He also advanced me some money to send home to my family, and I am once more on the road to success. It seems like a dream when I think that only a few days ago I had lost hope and faith and courage, and was actually contemplating suicide.
"I was coming to tell you that one of these days, when you are least expecting me, I will pay you another visit, and when I do I will be a successful man. I will bring with me a blank check, signed and made payable to you, and you may fill in the amount because you have saved me from myself by introducing me to myself- that self I never knew until you stood me in front of that mirror and ointed out the real me"
As he turned and departed into the crowded streets of Chicago, I saw, for the first time in my life, what strength and power and possibility lie hidden in the mind of the person who had never discovered the value of self -reliance. Then and there I made up my mind that I, too, would stand in front of that same mirror and point an accusing finger at myself for not having discovered the lesson that I had helped another to learn. I did stand before that same mirror. And as I did so, I then and there fixed in my mind, as my definite purpose in life, The determination to help men and women discover the forces that lie sleeping within them. The book you hold in your hands is evidence that my definite purpose is being carried out.
The man whose story I have related here is now the president of one of the largest and most successful concerns of its kind in America, with a business that extends from coast to coast and from Canada to Mexico.

Just a quick post of some of my favorite quotes. Enjoy!

Failure

"The Majority of people meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating anew plans to take the place of those which fail."
Napoleon Hill

People often accept failure as a curse, few people ever really understand that failure is only a curse when it is accepted as such. Unfortunately few people learn the truth that failure is seldom permanent.

Looking back at your past failures you might find that some were blessings in disguise. Failure teaches people a lesson that they would never have learned without it.

Most people that view themselves failures are usually not failures at all. They are simply going through temporary defeat. Do not use the word failure often, for if you believe you are a failure, your chances for success grow narrow. Believe in yourself and if you reach a block in life, or a down time, know that it is a learning experience and continue to fight and learn.

Doing what you love.

"In the arena of human life the honors and rewards fall to those who show their good qualities in action."
Aristotle

This is a very important habit to adopt if you consider yourself on the work path to success. Napoleon hill believed that finding the work you love is a key point in achieving success, and he wrote a ton about this concept in The Law of success.

" you are most efficient and will more quickly and easily succeed when engaged in work that you love, or work that you perform on behalf of some person whom you love."
Napoleon Hill

When you are engaged in work that you love, it is of no hardship for you to do more work and better work than that for which you are paid. For this reason you owe it to yourself to find work that you love. The most successful people have a passion for the work that they do, this passion is what motivates them to put more effort and time into whatever it is that they want to achieve. Few however, have this dedication to work toward the things they love to do in life. Whether you inspire to be a artist, teacher, snowboarder, whatever it is you owe it to yourself to give it your all and create a definite chief aim to reach your dreams. I believe you can make money off of anything as long as you believe in yourself, and have a strong definite chief aim.

Don't get me wrong, say you start out with a product that you love and your trying to sell this product to make you riches. Things do not turn out as well as expected, and you decide to throw in the towel. Take what you learned and move on to the next step, transformation of that product.

Take stock in what you learned and revive your business plan. Why did you fail, and why you will succeed this time. If you continue to work this process, you will have what you desire, to many people lack the determination it requires sadly. Thats why a definite chief aim and self confidence is so important.

Success poem

"Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit."
Napoleon Hill

Might sound a little funny but heres a success poem for you :)

Self Confidence

If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don't
If you like to win, but dont think you can
Its almost certain you wont.

If you think you'll lose, you've lost,
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellows will
Its all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are
You've got to think high to rise
You'be got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize

Life's battles don't go away
To the stronger or faster man
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

Financial Freedom, and Success can be yours as long as you believe they can be!

Eliminating Procrastination

"The world is divided into people who do things and people who get the credit. Try, if you can, to belong to the first class. There's far less competition."
Dwight Morrow

You can accomplish nothing until you beat the habit of procrastination. The most well known way to beat this known habit is the use of auto suggestion. If you believe you have this habit I would adopt this script and say it out loud once daily, and put to use its rules. This will cure your habit of procrastination!

" Having chosen a Definite Chief Aim as my life's work, I now understand it to be my duty to transform this aim into reality. Therefore I will form the habit of taking some definite action each day that will carry me one step nearer the attainment of my Definite Chief Aim.
I know that procrastination is a deadly enemy of all who would become leaders in any undertaking, and I will eliminate this habit from my makeup by:

1. Doing some one definite thing each day, something that ought to be done, without anyone telling me to do it.

2. Looking around until i find at least one thing that I can do each day that I have not been in the habit of doing, and that will be of value to others, without expectation of pay.

3. Telling at least one other person, each day, of the value of practicing this habit of doing something that ought to be done without being told to do it.

I can see that the muscles of the body becomes strong in proportion to the extent to which they are used. Therefore I understand that the habit of Initiative also becomes fixed in proportion to the extent that it is practiced.
I realize the place to begin developing the habit of Initiative is in the small, commonplace things connected with my daily work. Therefore I will go at my work each day as if I were doing it solely for the purpose of developing this necessary habit of Initiative.
I understand that by practicing this habit of taking the Initiative in connection with my daily work I will be not only developing that habit, but I will also be attracting the attention of those who will place greater value on my services as a result of this practice."

Leadership

"Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness."
Napoleon Hill

Being able to acquire the features of being a leader is one of the key factors to becoming financially independent. Initiative is one of the most important things you need to master in order to become a leader. In order to require the skill of initiative I would create a process in which you do each day at work. This process should be out of the ordinary, and seem some what tedious to you. But make it above and beyond your normal habits. Do this religiously and soon you will find it will no longer bother you. Then move onto the next task to improve yourself and do it the same way. If you do this like I explained you will be on your way to success, and a great leader.

The following are important factors of leadership Written by Napoleon Hill:

1. UNWAVERING COURAGE based upon knowledge of self, and of one’s occupation. No follower wishes to be dominated by a leader who lacks self-confidence and courage. No intelligent follower will be dominated by such a leader very long.

2. SELF-CONTROL: The man who cannot control himself, can never control others. Self-control sets a mighty example for one’s followers, which the more intelligent will emulate.

3. A KEEN SENSE OF JUSTICE: Without a sense of fairness and justice, no leader can command and retain the respect of his followers.

4. DEFINITENESS OF DECISION: The man who wavers in his decisions shows that he is not sure of himself. He cannot lead others successfully.

5. DEFINITENESS OF PLANS: The successful leader must plan his work, and work his plan. A leader who moves by guesswork, without practical, definite plans, is comparable to a ship without a rudder. Sooner or later he will land on the rocks.

6. THE HABIT OF DOING MORE THAN PAID FOR: One of the penalties of leadership is the necessity of willingness, upon the part of the leader, to do more than he requires of his followers.

7. A PLEASING PERSONALITY: No slovenly, careless person can become a successful leader. Leadership calls for respect. Followers will not respect a leader who does not grade high on all of the factors of a Pleasing Personality.

8. SYMPATHY AND UNDERSTANDING: The successful leader must be in sympathy with his followers. Moreover, he must understand them and their problems.

9. MASTERY OF DETAIL: Successful leadership calls for mastery of details of the leader’s position.

10. WILLINGNESS TO ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY: The successful leader must be willing to assume responsibility for the mistakes and the shortcomings of his followers. If he tries to shift this responsibility, he will not remain the leader. If one of his followers makes a mistake, and shows himself incompetent, the leader must consider that it is he who failed.

11. COOPERATION: The successful leader must understand, and apply the principle of cooperative effort and be able to induce his followers to do the same. Leadership calls for POWER, and power calls for COOPERATION.

The Mastermind

"The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things, but the one who gets the people to do the greatest things."
Ronald Reagan.

The first chapter in The Law of Success is on The Mastermind. A master mind is a mind in which two or more people work together in a spirit of perfect harmony to reach a certain goal. Notice how harmony is stressed, this is very important. Two minds will not work together or be coordinated, unless perfect harmony is there. This is the secret of success or failure of almost all business and social partnerships.

The first step in trying to accomplish most goals is to throw together a team. The team really does not even need to know they are a team. But use the people closest to you, use their knowledge, use their skills, organize them so they can best help you, and of course you can best help them. Surround yourself with people that want you to succeed. Those people need to know the limits of the success you wish to gain.

My Success

Napoleon Hill quote of the day
"Remember that your real wealth can be measured not by what you have, but by what you are."

A lot of people believe that being rich makes you successful. My own personal definition on success is that you are happy, and not tied down by the burdens of money. So many people are rich, but they are not happy. Success is the complete package.

To live life without the burdens financial problems, to help others, and simply put to be happy~ Thats my goal, and I wish it could be everyones goal.

Here is a success script I encourage you to adopt. I say it out loud every night before I go to bed. Change it up to fit your own beliefs.

My Success

I believe in myself, I believe in those who work with me, I believe in my employer. I believe in my friends, I believe in my family, I believe that god will lend me everything I need with which to succeed if I do my best to earn it through faithful and honest service. I believe in prayer and I will never close my eyes in sleep without praying for divine guidance to the end that i will be patient with other people and tolerant with those who do not believe as I do. I believe that success is the result of intelligent effort and does not depend upon luck or sharp practices or double crossing friends, fellow men, or my employer. I believe I will get out of life exactly what I put into it; therefore I will be careful to conduct myself toward others as I would want them to act towards me. I will not slander those whom I do not like. I will not slight my work no matter what I may see others doing. I will render the best service of which I am capable because I have pledged myself to succeed in life and I know that success is always the result of conscientious and efficient effort. Finally, I will forgive those who offend me because I realized that I shall sometimes offend others and I will need their forgiveness.

Then I have a bunch more lines under the first sign line, I read it,sign it, and date it every night. I know to some it may seem like a burden but this is so powerful, and takes at most 2 minutes to read. This builds Self Confidence, Integrity, and puts to use the law of auto suggestion.

The more you desire success, the more success you will receive . Auto suggestion is the fuel behind desire.

Welcome to The Law of Success Blog.

Reading the book The Law of Success by Napoleon Hill has changed my life in so many ways, my goal is to share my experiences on just how it did that.

Why I believe The Law of Success helped me to become Successful, and how it can also set you up to do the same.

For my first post, I figure I minds well start off nice and simple, but very powerful. The tool of auto suggestion is one of most important things you learn in The Law of Success. Here are three affirmations I read to myself each day when I wake up and each night when I go to bed, I encourage you to adopt these for yourself as well!

"Day by day in every way I am becoming more successful."

"Believe in yourself but do not tell the world what you can do, SHOW IT"

"Don't wait, The time will never be just right"

All by Napoleon Hill.

And here is a little inspiration for you :)
